Keep marijuana illegal!

As a married woman and mother of four, you'd probably expect me to support the current state of marijuana laws. It may surprise you to learn that I'm a regular marijuana smoker. Knowing that, you may expect me to be pro-legalization. Once again, you'd be wrong. I'm firmly against the legalization of marijuana. But unlike most folks on my side of the argument, I have solid reasons for taking this stance.

For one thing, my cousins are prison guards. Their job security depends on constant prison overcrowding. They also make good money supplying marijuana to certain prisoners. And it's understood that most drug convicts make excellent prison bitches for the truly violent offenders. Simply put, legalization would put our nation's fragile prison economy at risk!

That's just the start. Think about how illegal drugs give our law enforcement a valuable tool in arresting minorities when need be. Additionally, legalizing marijuana would strip our state police departments of their ability to seize and auction off the homes and cars of anyone carrying more than a half ounce of marijuana. You think taxes on decriminalized marijuana could make up the loss? Think again!

Another drawback of legalization is that everyone who is now drug free will probably start smoking the day it's all legalized. This is particularly troublesome because these newbs will start freaking out. School buses will be crashing left and right, companies will fold under a weight of too many sick days, and folks will stop taking themselves so seriously. That's pretty much what happened before the fall of Rome!

Even if we can look past the threat to our adult population, we must consider the children. Once legally regulated, marijuana will be as hard for kids to buy as alcohol is now. So you've got to wonder about what they'll go for next. Freon huffing? Suppository abuse? Free-based jenkem? By the time we know what the next thing is they'll already be hooked!

Of course our more enterprising young people won't be able to focus on their studies, because that $200 per night profit from dealing drugs will be gone. Rather than just selling a few bags on a Friday night, these once promising young students would be forced to spend 12-16 of their best hours per week in low paying fast food or grocery bagging jobs. Parents can kiss those straight "A" report cards goodbye!

So as you compose that letter to your representatives in congress, begging them to legalize pot, prepare yourself for the bleak future that follows. Today's drug mafia leaders will become tomorrows high-paid consultants for major corporations. They'll be deliberately tainting our marijuana supplies with addictive carcinogens, much the same way tobacco and soft drinks are tainted today. Sure, you're laughing now. You won't be laughing when the blood's flying, and you're screaming!

So you want to keep cannabis illegal so your cousins can have job security? Even if legalization causes prison populations to shrink, which it won’t because if you’re dumb enough to get busted for possession the chances are high that you’re involved in much more illegal activity, but if it did you can bet that your cousins will be the first ones to be considered for the jobs of checking cannabis tax stamps. But just the fact that you believe that just because your cousins make a living off of imprisoning, socially and financially damning otherwise decent people, and then turning around and committing the offenses of those they are guarding should not justify the ant-cannabis laws for anyone even you. Even by your logic for every one guard who could potentially get laid off there’s at least 2 dozen families whose lives are ruined because the bread winner got convicted of using cannabis. Also you said it was a good thing that the homes and cars of drug offenders are taken away and sold off? I’m getting a sinking feeling that if you lived in 1942 Berlin you would have supported the Final Solution just because your brother-in-law was making a mint from renting cattle cars to the government and you would get to move into the bigger apartment nextdoor.

And you think that if kids can’t get a hold of cannabis then they’ll start huffing freon? News Flash, as long as cannabis is illegal and unregulated then your kids are more likely to inhale freon from smoking tainted cannabis than if it were legal, kids huffing freon willingly only happens because the schools and government tell them so much about the dangers of cannabis but hardly warn them about inhalants. And you think that cannabis legalization will cause America’s infrastructure to collapse from all the people freaking out and getting sick. Well that’s already happening, ever hear of alcohol?

Where do you think the profits go from the privitazation of the prison system-used to be called ?Wankenhut-new name now-corporations that make money for the average worker's 401K's and retirement accts and pay money to legislators to represent their interests. I think it is called money laundering when illegal profits (shadow economy) are funneled back into the regular economy..causing economic instability...drug wars are just another symptom of a corrupt economy...and never acknowledged in polite society...same situation that has been going on worldwide for centuries--slave trade--rum trade--all these
'industries" built the great fortunes of the past and today...

Josh, I think you're losing it a bit.

Rather than just selfishly focusing on your own relatives whose living would be affected by legalization, you should have thought about the hundreds of thousands of others who are daily and heroically involved in the continuous War on Drugs. Many of their jobs would be lost too. What are we expected to do with all of those unemployed?

And also, wouldn't the quality of illegal street drugs be negatively affected?

You really have to start thinking about other people.

A key question is whether we continue a system in which all of the money flows to criminals and guns, or do legalize and tax marijuana so the money can flow to the public treasury and rebuilding America.

Support a personal use and cultivation permit: $100 for twelve plants. Let's let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own backyards and put the criminal drug lords out of business.

c.even if they do legalize it it will be for 21+ so kids WILL get a hold of it and deal it to other KIDS.

First off Im going to start by saying Im for legalizing marijuana. I think all that stuff you said was pretty much a bunch of shit. Alot of that shit you said sounded pretty ignorant, stupid, and racist. News Flash! If they legalized pot there would still be plenty of people in prison. What about herion, cocaine, and all those other illegal drugs. Not to mention all the rapists and murderers out there. Besides you can go to prison for just about anything this day in age. Not only that but our economy has already gone to shit. There are millions of people out there that dont have a job and boo hoo your cousins can join them too. Im sure they can find something better to do than supply immates with narcotics. Legalizing marijuana wont make anything worse than it all ready is. Oh yea and back to the prison thing. I lived in Colonial Heights for 12 years. I know about all the drugs and crime that go on in and around the metro area. So there you go. There will always be someone going to jail. And i know how bad the cops are in that area so i know they will still have plenty of people to pull over and arrest. As for the racist comment... i dont blame you. Ive never seen as many racist red necks anywhere else in my life than in Colonial Heights and the surrounding areas. Common Wealth my ass. Common shit is more like it. But hey! no worries Im sure Obama will make it all better for us....

Truthfully The writer should follow the soon to be defunct policy our military follows - "the Don't ask Don't tell" policy. After all we don't want all these wonderful people to think that this writer has morals, sense, ethics, virtues, and anything other than a socialist agenda.
If there was a more close-minded, self-centered, egotistical worthless excuse for a human being, I would hand that person a marriage proposal to Osama, you would be a perfect match. BTW you should actually listen and read some of the opinions the commentors have posted; take the bull for bull, but DO NOT take it all as bull. Some of the commentors actually have well-deserved opinions. Also in regards to your backwards opinion of "potheads", You would be surprised that quite a few people- very public people, have "partaked" and still do smoke pot willingly and joyously. Does it make you feel comfortable that you may of indirectly sent a mother's son to jail just because he decided to smoke a joint and made sure that all of his heavily intoxicated friends got home safely- which they did; but mister police officer comes by arrests him for his car smelling like pot now has to pay astronomical amounts of money to courts where a few blocks away an alcoholic kills four people and GETS AWAY WITH IT?
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but yet some(i.e. you) need to open up a bit more and change. IS That what Obama said to get elected?

I personally think it should be leagleized not only could it help the economy with new taxes but it could also let our drug enforcement officers focus on the more hsrmfull stuff I.e meth, crack, heroin,LSD being a former user of some of the harder drugs I know what they do to peoples lives I know many many pot smokers and they never had as much trouble not only that it has been around since 6000 BC it's a natural herb it has been studied for many years has proven curitive properties for some forms of cancer and for other cancer paitents helps them to eat. Alcohol is leagle and it's 10000 times worse personally I use canabis to help me sleep at night I have severe mental ilnesses and it helps to slow my racing thoughts enough to sleep Anyway this is just my opinion as for jocelyn this is her opinion this is a free country people shouldn't be rude I'd hateful because someone exercises their right to free speech no matter how they dissagree thank you

Ok seriously this is a bunch of bullshit coming from a clearly uneducated individual. You have no facts to back up any or your rambling statements. Honey, I have three boys, 19,20 and 24, I raised on my own since 1995. I would WAY rather have them use the HERB marijuana than take up ANY other vice or "addiction", and that includes caffine, sugar, TV, video games, etc.. You are just plain ignorant. Educate yourself. The HERB can be vaporized or consumed. It does not have to be smoked(thus "smoking harms") eliminated. The effects are mild and for very many people theraputic for a variety of conditions. Like everything else on this planet it's not for everybody but those who don't like it shouldn't impose their opinions/morals/values on the rest of us! And if you think for one minute that the "illegal" status of the HERB is due to democratic vote you are even more ignorant than I thought. I'm sorry but I think You are a moral hypocrite and a bad example to your children because you are closed minded, intolerant and self rightious. THAT's what you are teaching them besides the fact that all the propoganda are LIES so then why should they trust the rest of what they're "told". Teach your kids to THINK FOR THEMSELVES. Infact, try it yourself.

Andrew said...

Sadly, your views are based on poor judgement, being a weed dealer may have benefits of not having to work at a regular paying job, but there will still be those that are underage needing a good hook up, once it becomes legalized, the dutch (Amsterdam) have a good community, where marijuana is legalized, have a great economy and not everybody smokes marijuana, because it's legal it's become a natural trend like drinking, it's something they do once in a while not everyday, because it has nothing addictive in it, the smokers today is more of a hype of smoking because its illegal, if it becomes legal not everybody is gonna start smoking, you obviously only know a tight knit group of friends, and family aka your prison guard cousins who do illegally harbor in drugs to inmates, they are the scum who should be in jail for all the marijuana defenders.

law enforcement doesn't need seized cars and houses to make profit, they make money by the state, hence why they are pissed tested monthly, you dumbass.

driving under the influence doesn't mean school buses are gonna crash, there will obviously still be DUI for driving while high and not being allowed to smoke if you drive a bus or any public transport, there will be rules based around the legalization, you really didn't think before writing this did you? weed and alcohol are two different playing fields, if a kid really wanted to smoke, obviously one of his friends or one of the many drug dealers still left, harboring non government weed will profit from the crowd of youth not being able to buy from the stores, if they start huffing or doing other drugs it's their own choice not the choice of the government or the legalization of marijuana.

once again back to the beginning of thinking dealing pot has anything to do with grades, no, grades are based on how smart you are as an individual, not how much free time you have, regular jobs aka PART TIME JOBS for college students still allow plenty of time for studying and homework, therefore you are wrong, and the money to pay for college, student loans, paying back student loans, the education they got from college and getting a well designed career can enable you to pay them back.

They can't taint marijuana with addicted substances, FDA will ban that, because its an all natural substance mixing it with such a substance as nicotine will reverse the effect.
and marijuana being legalized is more than just for smoking, it can used for fuel, clothes and over 2500 items, soft drinks addicting? are you on crack, or are you just that stupid in general? a married mother of four, i hope your kids aren't as dimwitted as you.

I fully support the legalization of marijuana from here out to the day I die, because your reasons for keeping it illegal are of a simple minded American with no education in the history and full on used of marijuana/hemp.

Have a nice day and do some research before you post some simple minded argument, clearly you don't have your facts straight, come back another day, when your head is out of your ass and you have learned some real hard on facts.

Anonymous said...

you sound like a fool, do your research before making claims like this
you claim that it's harder for youths to buy marijuana than alcohol. are you in high school? do you know whats going on in high schools? clearly not.
im a high school senior and know first hand that it is MUCH easier to buy weed than alcohol. since alcohol sales are regulated, stores are less willing to sell to minors. however, dealers do business underhanded and therefore are much more willing to sell to minors.
and for your information, if weed was legalized after the initial burst of smokers the trend will die down, and more importantly become REGULATED

Anonymous said...

Oh, I see. Because it's legal, you assume that everyone in the world would suddenly decide smoking pot should be mixed with everything else, and they definitely wouldn't regulate that at all. I mean, it's not like there are laws in place for similar substances, like alcohol, right.

Your prison-based "fact" hurt my brain. You'd rather put tons of people in jail (for something you already do, what the hell?) in order to fund prison guards than worry about the state of the entire prison system? Good thing when you mentioned "overcrowding" you completely failed to grasp what the word meant.

And yes, people losing their homes and cars? That's a great thing.

Where do you get your sources? Your subconscious? Bathroom stall walls? The taxation of marijuana being imported alone will make up for all of the above ten fold, not to mention the jobs of growing, harvesting, teaching how to grow, taxation of stores that sell it, stores that open just to sell it or import it (whoa more taxes) will be a billion if not multiple billion dollar income rate annually.

Kenny Freeman said...

Instead of namecalling or cursing i think i can make my response to this simple and easy with proof.
The main problem i have with this, is that it is a huge contradiction.

You state in the first paragraph that you are not pro-legalization. However, you seem to advocate smoking and selling marijuana illegally. Whether you want it to remain illegal the cops will put your ass in prison. Wouldn't it be embarrassing if your cousins had to guard you?

You also don't seem to realize that legal marijuana would have rules like alcohol. A DUI or DWI would not be enforced for alcohol alone, and most bus companies drug tests their drivers anyway.

My favorite paragraph is about selling and school however. While I agree the stereotype of stoners not doing well in school isn't always true, why as a mother would you rather have your kids sell illegal drugs than getting a real job?

All of your reasons are emotional (rather than logical) causes to want to keep marijuana illegal, and they aren't good ones. There are good arguments for keeping it illegal but you don't show any. I encourage you to re-evaluate your morals, and comeback with an more educated post.

Complete and utter rubbish. The only reason you don't want marijuana legalised is to keep your corrupt cousins in with a job. The rest of America, and likely the world, doesn't give two shits about your cousins selling weed in prison. And frankly, I think you're an idiot to post this information on a site where you have your full name and picture.

You say your cousins job security will weaken if marijuana is legalised. Well, if the police find this, you can rest assured their job security is gonna weaken a hell of a lot more whether the stoners are behind bars or not.

Also, who gives a shit about prison economy? Apart from the stoners, people are there for a reason, as a punishment. The state does not have an obligation to make sure they're nice and comfy in their cells like they are in Britain, they're obliged to punish these assholes and make sure that whatever they did, they don't do again.

And remember, we pay tax for our police force to be on the streets, so having them fight real criminals such as hard drug dealers, rapists, murderers and terrorists instead of people quietly smoking weed in their own home is gonna be a much better way of spending our hard-earned money, is it not?

You talk of prohibition being a good opportunity for arresting minorities? I'm not even gonna bother telling you the extent of how immature and ignorant you are.

Also, you're saying that people will start being lazy and the marijuana companies will lace the products? Rubbish. If unregulated street dealers don't lace weed with addictive drugs, then what makes you think a giant, taxed and regulated corporation will get away with it?

And the whole idea of stoners being lazy? Whole load of crap. Weed doesn't make you lazy in the long term, it's just that weed fits in perfectly in the lazy man's life. People need to stop blaming their habits and start taking responsibility for their actions.

If you decide to fake a sick-day and smoke weed while watching porn and eating nachos, that's your choice and you will face the consequences. You can't tell your employer "Oh, it's not my fault I was a half hour late for work this morning, I had to smoke my morning joint in the shower and the paper got bogged down, so I had to re-wrap it." They'll just fire you on the spot.

Also, you're complaining about kids not being able to smoke and sell weed. Good, kids shouldn't be doing that anyway, it's a scientific fact that if someone under the age of 16 becomes a heavy user, their brain may not develop properly. And frankly, I'd rather not have my son running around selling weed with the risk of being mugged by another dealer or caught by the authorities and have his chances of getting a job ruined.

Delete this blog, do your research, and come back later.

Haha, WOW. I love how much bullshit was just shoved into that article. Do your research before insisting what you THINK will happen, will. Most of what you stated has already been disproved.

Let's hurry up and get marijuana legalized.

Anonymous said...

You are a dirt bag.

If Marijuana is legalized it can be regulated. I'm sure that once it is legalized it STILL will not be readily available for inmates. Your prison guard cousins can still be scumbags and bring marijuana into the prisons for prisoners.

HOWEVER...

There have been SEVERAL cases of high grade marijuana now being laced with sand, lime stone dust, glass dust, and silica. Criminal organizations are using this crap to make the marijuana heavier in order to make more money.

How would you feel if your kids, in 5, 10, maybe 15 years ended up smoking this crap and got sick from it? Or maybe by then the sleeze-bag criminal organizations that are doing this will find a more dangerous and undetectable way to contaminate the marijuana to increase weight??

You are the definition of a DING DONG.

I have to call bullshit, I went through college receiving straight A's while on marijuana,

Our prison economy is MISPLACED there, we put violent offenders in the same place as habitual marijuana users.

Your cousins should be locked up for providing marijuana to inmates, that will help your prison economy problem

I graduated valedvictorian from brown college for game design and development, programming graphics cards pixel shader 2.0 and 3.0 while stoned is pretty unbelievable to you i know but I take in marijuana a different way, instead of engaging my stupid behavior like most do i critically think about situations and things and your blog pisses me off right now.

I'm not going to say you should be shot and put in a ditch but honestly you need to look at the whole picture in a different way, i realize you are looking at the big picture. But honestly, why supress people for this if you do it you should be in jail too if that is your belief, that it should not be legal.

Some people are only as big as the people they step on, and well, financially speaking we've all been stepped on by the top 4% repeatedly, how long until change happens i dont know.

I multiplied colors by colors while stoned and well you come off as a complete hypocrit in your blog.

this article is awful.
if legalized, it'll still be getting pushed on the streets, even more so, making it easier for kids, and easier for adults to consume.

and everybody smokes pot already, don't you think all those things you said would have happened already? youre making up bullshit that holds no factual background, you are very, very ignorant.

put the pipe down and go take care of your kids.

Anonymous said...

I don't know what rock your family lives under, but I could buy marijuana in middle school easier than tobacco from other kids.

Then in high school, a couple states away marijuana was more frequently around than school books.

To answer your response, no. I went to fairly "middle/upperclass" schools.. A lot of them... You think heroin and cocaine are only on the streets? I know of 3 people who have changed their life completely because of cocaine, and not in a good way.

To say that you want marijuana illegal to keep the flow of houses/cars/other property of people just like you to officials is like telling God to send everyone besides you who does this one action to hell so this imaginary "quota" could be met.

In reality when the law comes knocking on your door with warrants, and has already figured out where they are going to take your kids you will wish you never wrote this. I have seen whole families be destroyed, complete with parental suicides because of the ill-legalization of a substance that was being used responsibly.

All I have to say is shame on you for spreading ignorance to anyone who views your blog.

I spent more time revelling in the commenter's craziness than reading your funny blog post. At first I thought the comments were a joke, but now I'm suspecting someone either passed your blog post around to their inbred cousins (maybe they buy weed from your prison guard cousins?), or everyone on here is just so high they can't make sense of anything.

Were you drunk when you wrote this?

Anonymous said...

Your concerned with your cousins jobs? That's good and all, but there are so many more people out there other than your cousins. People's lives can be ruined over something so little. For example, who goes home and beats their wife? The alcoholic or the stoner?..... I know, that sounds like I'm stereotyping all alcoholics, but alcohol has caused more people to get hurt than marijuana ever has. Your cousins jobs could be just fine. The officers arresting criminals would have to find other (and probably actual) criminals to fill up their jail cells. If some of the same laws about beer and cigarettes were applied to marijuana then it could be controlled just fine. Not everyone is going to smoke just because it becomes legal. I know people that have access to weed and do not smoke. It's a choice. Same as cigarettes and same as beer.

Anonymous said...

Let me start my rant on you by first addressing that my opening opinion of you is your a know-nothing burnout hick from Virginia. That said, the fact that your looking out for your cousins' job security in the trade of illegally supplying prisoners with illegal drugs shows the type of roots you come from. I hope they lose their jobs. Also, considering your such an experienced marijuana user it baffles me that you think bus drivers would go crashing, considering you look like one. Well I drive on marijuana frequently and I can say I'm a much more focused driver under the influence. And to quickly point out more of your idiocy: your a racist (see the no-nothing burnout hick comment mentioned above) which goes without saying, you obviously have NO knowledge of history or Rome for that matter, the fact that you even try to sound serious with that statement just makes me laugh my ass off,you probably prefer jenkem, as a drug-dealing college student I personally know you aren't gonna get straight A's unless you actually study not because you work a few hours a week. Case and point- your opinion essentially means nothing, because you are no one, however this is America and unfortunately even people like you are entitled to one.

Jocelyn, sorry to tell you this but this is one of the stupidest things I've ever read. Maybe if you could actually cite some of your information I could give you some credit, but obviously you've only done the research in that tiny little brain of yours. If anything they should make pot legal and alcohol illegal. I've seen alcohol ruin many more lives than anyone that smokes pot. Actually I don't know anybody's life that has been ruined by pot. My mother works in a rehab center and everyday people walk into that place stone stinking drunk, but I have yet to hear of a marijuana addict entering rehab. Look at the big picture and quit worrying about your jackass cousins making a living selling a little dope to some murderers.

Look at me, I'm a cunt, and my name's Jocelyn! said...

Go back to school Jocelyn, take your kids with you while you're at it as well, as I'm sure they're just as ignorant as you are. Lucky ex-husband of yours made it out while he could it seems. Too bad he's probably still footing the bill for your ridiculous behavior and habits. Then again you do have that new 'open' marriage now(that sure gives you some solid credibility). Do yourself a favor and come to the realization that you need a personality make over. Delete your blog while you're at it.

If your reason for keeping a drug illegal is because it gives law enforcement jobs that is a sad reason. I pay taxes to be protected from criminals not to pay for some guys cable bill. And if these people are selling drugs to inmates to get more money they should be put in prison too because they are doing something illegal and according to you we need these people in jail to pay for some guys new car. If you have a shred of common sense you should know your own logic is so full of holes it just falls apart. The over crowding of prisons is something we are trying to stop not continue. I hope you get arrested and put in prison so you will have to buy pot from your corrupt cousins.

....They won't be out drinking, driving, and killing other kids. Potsmokers tend to be nonviolent and less of an issue for local law enforcement.

Oh and uh...lady...they pot genie ain't going back in the bottle. Out here in California we have storefronts that sell it openly.

Honestly Jocelyn,

This has got to be some of the worst arguments I've ever heard regarding a pro smoker looking for anti-legalization. You seriously believe that once its legal, jail houses will be bare? They will find other reasons to crowd the prison, don't you worry about that. Let me guess, you work for FOX don't ya? Your points are terrible and have no relevance to the actual problem at hand. The war on drugs... let me rephrase that... the war on marijuana was pointless, always has been, and its just a way for the govt to make people pay for non criminal activities. Jobs will be lost, this is a part of everyday life.. and while these jobs are lost, thousands more will be made. Sure, lets leave the drug smuggling and black market sales up to the thugs and mobsters that run the business... wow you're making so much since it's AMAZING! What are you hiding here? Maybe your one who benefits from the billion dollar trade and don't want to lose your flow. GET OVER IT! you make me sick... people like you shouldn't smoke period. I think it makes you delusional.

The fact here is there will still be mom and pop dispensaries, and with organics EVERYWHERE, plus the laws are mainly for you to grow your own... you think people will taint their own pot? that's absurd!

Marijuana has been proven safer than anything legal today on the "drug" level. There is no known proof that natural THC has killed anyone, and if your worried about carcinogens... vaporizers will take care of that. So I just debunked everything you had to say. Please no more articles from you as your facts are far from fact and more for self preservation. Just... wow, at how terrible this article is.

Anonymous said...

UGHH I HATE POTHEADS I WISH THE POLICE WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT AS A SERIOUS DEAL."

AHAHHAHAHA, sounds like you already have no brain cells, much less wtf does the word DAT mean? See, some people just don't need to smoke pot, and you sir/madam are one of those people. Why do you hate potheads? why should police make it so serious when no one has died from it and it's clearly not hurting anyone else. They also found out high grade used on a regular dosage causes braincells to regrow that stopped growing in your teen years. The positive outweighs the negative. Can you say that about any legal drug on the market today? NO

I'm guessing you also haven't tried it yourself either. Yeah, let's go ahead and judge something that you have no idea what it's even about. BRAVO!

Weed is non addictive, so I'd also like you to explain your hooked theory.

I've smoke pot everyday for years, I'm a system admin for a large underground music company, I work everyday, I pay taxes, I do everything a normal "non-smoking" person does, except probably more. So please, tell me, who am I hurting?

Eclectic Kai said...

Lady, I don't know what the hell kind of weed you're smoking, but it sure as hell is better than the shit I'm getting.

So you basically want to keep pot illegal so your cousins can continue to be corrupt prison guards who make a bunch of money dealing to prisoners who may or may not have gotten there by possessing the stuff in the first place?

And you're afraid that "everyone" (as you put it) who doesn't do drugs now will automatically start as soon as it isn't illegal anymore because apparently there isn't a single person in this country that doesn't do it because they are allergic to it, or it doesn't do them any good, or they don't like what it does to them or because they have some personal moral/ethical code that directs them not to. And apparently there is no one in this country who simply just doesn't feel the need or desire to do it.

Did you know that Portugal became the first country to completely legalize all recreational drugs a few years ago? Or that that country has experienced resounding success in reducing prison convictions (and therefore their prison populations) as well as lowering the rate of drug use? This is a fact you can look up online. Or in news archives and research studies.

And, did you know, that the US has the highest rate of incarceration of any country in the world - that fully 25% of our population is behind bars, largely because of nonviolent drug convictions?

So if I'm to understand you correctly, you would rather keep people in unhealthy, unsafe, overcrowded conditions so your cousins can continue being corrupt, based on the idea that if it is legalized, "everyone" will start doing drugs and completely lose control of themselves and their surroundings and you compare this to the fall of Rome, which occured because of a bunch of corrupt, lazy and maniacally insane and inbred emporers who took it upon themselves to sack their own empire.

Whatever you're smoking, I think you should smoke less.

John Carr said...

you have got to be the most ridiculous anti-legalizing pot smoker i have ever read upon. if you havent noticed, your kids will probably eventually smoke pot sometime in there day whether it be legal or illegal, they will try it. its a cognitive decision, we will raise more money taxing and legalizing, then arresting, and funding a war on drugs. meaning your cousins will end up more safe, and will be getting paid more handling LESS inmates.

your a moron.

Hello people that think keeping weed illegal is stupid,
I live in Canada, and we have licenses for it, and because of that, the normal, local market is flooded with medically licensed weed. Thus said, prices get out of whack, and just like on Trailer Park Boys, you can get it down at the mall for six bucks a gram, because no one wants to pay double that for the good stuff. Sucks for all us who've been supplying the community faithfully for the last 20 years.

I used to smoke pot, regularly. I had for years. I had even eaten it, regularly. then one day I did nothing out of the ordinary. I started to feel tired and since it was a school night I decided to drive home and go to bed. I blacked out many times WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY which was very scary considering my 2 year old son was with me. I made it home and he started to get hungry so apparently I made him dinner, although i don't remember it.....I remember talking to my cousin to find out if she would babysit.....When I got to her house....I don't remember driving at all, but I guess I did. I started having seizures. She called an ambulance because she couldn't drive. I guess I threw up a few times. and had to get ambulanced to a major hospital where they hooked me up to all these machines, not including the usual ones, but i don't remember what they were for. They declared that I overdosed.....possible? I'm not sure. But every time I have been around people who are smoking pot I have the SAME reaction, even just walking down the street. Now my state is trying to legalize marijuana and I don't know what to do. Neither do the doctors. They told me to pray that it doesn't pass, If it does it will be as If I am allergic to air.

It sounds like your cousins should be the prisoners. So marijuana users are the only ones that turn into prison bitchs? Last time i checked meth is the drug choice of gays! Have you seen what some jails have for there inmates? Some of them look like hotels. Your cousins will have a job no matter what. Even if they are drug dealers!!! What is meant by arresting minorities? Illegal immigrants? Thats for the INS. Maybe they should do there job!! When it comes to dealing, marijuana is on the bottom of the money chain. How many marijuana dealers you know driving around in a escalade with 22's? And I live in chicago!!! Have you heard of marijuana shops in california making millions a year? Lets see.... what would happen if you were driving while intoxicated? Or went to work like that? You would be arrested for dwi, and lose your job. You dont think that would be the same if marijuana was legalized. Considering if you were found driving while high or smoking, you would be charged with a dui!!!! About our kids, you dont think they will find a way to get marijuana if leagal. There able to still buy tobaccoo and alcohol. Most dealers dont give a crap about school, and like working those b.s. jobs. If you want to throw all the minorities in jail, then who will perform these jobs? Your closeing statement is a bunch of b.s. as well. Were you on something else other than marijuana? Maybe a two day crack high, slipping in and out of reality? You dont think that the pharmacutical companies already have a firm grip on our country and society as a whole. Other countries out there have legalized marijuana or it already was. Last time I heard anything about it, we are in debt to these countries. Along as allies. Marijuana would not kill our country. We would rather kill our country by balling out brokerage firms 700 billion dollars. Then let them get away with it. No questions asked. Marijuana is not the enemy!!!!! How about alcohol or tobaccoo? You can still drive and have use of your motor skills while ripped out of your mind. How about alcohol? Last time I was realy drunk, I couldnt walk, let alone drive. Why dont you take a look at the numbers. More accidents that lead to death are more related to alcohol then marijuana. Do your history, alcohol was illegal at one point.

To all who are losing their hope in humanity:

It may be helpful to remind yourself that the average person and the average internet commenter aren't the same things...yet :)

The thing that confuses me about the commenters is that some of them seem to have a pretty good grasp of correct grammar and syntax... yet, they still don't seem to be able to read beyond the comprehension level of an eight-year old...

I used to to be vehemently pro-legalization, but now that I've seen a cross-section of the pot-smoking demographic I'm not so sure anymore...

You're obviously a hypocrite so WHO are you to say what should be illegal and legal? The fact is, marijuana WAS LEGAL! YES it was, and it was George Washington, the PRESIDENT of the United States that stated "Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere." I don't think overcrowding in prisons with drug dealers is necessary because we need more space for those who actually belong there and are harming the people's state of being (murderers, pedophiles, child molesters). Do you like how thousands of individuals that have been accused of child molestation are still living in neighborhoods with our children? The work and outcome of a drug dealer is incomparable to that of someone who thrives on molesting vulnerable individuals. I'm surprised smoking marijuana hasn't allowed you to see this.

wow is she serious, think of probition, our economy would get better if they legalized it, and it would put drug dealers who deal to teenagers in jail

haha nice article.

the real funny/sad part of it all is though is that these are the exact reasons our mafia governments are keeping it illegal. its really not a joke :(

welcome to the prison planet

Marijuana should be legal. It's ignorant, greedy assholes like you who go it to become illegal. They said weed made you kill people in the 20's yet there are no reported deaths from weed. Also, it costs the state a lot of money to keep someone in prison, and to throw someone in jail because they have the most harmless of all illegal drugs is pointless. Cigarettes kill more people than weed does, yet tobacco is legal and marijuana isn't. If you're gonna have opinions at least get an education first. I've gone to school with more intelligent people and some people I know are pretty fucking stupid.

yet another person talking out of their ass about stuff they don't have a clue about...Research your facts, sweetie, you've got lots wrong and even more half wrong....Let's make prescription drugs illegal, that's where the real problems are anyways....but since I doctor gives them to you, they must be ok, again, do your research before you open your mouth and write a bunch of lies that sound good to you and you only!

This is the best thing I've read in a long time. Well done.

so you thinks that once its legal that schools will allow their busdrivers to be high while driving children to school? and apparently selling drugs is the only reason that good college students get straight As
